Quito, Ecuador
Duration: 12 hours
Begin this full-day excursion from Cuenca, heading out on a drive to the town of Alausi, approximately 100 miles to the north. Admire the stunning Andean Landscapes along the way.
You’ll be transferred to the railway station in San Pedro de Alausi, where you’ll board the train known as the Devil’s Nose for the 1.5-hour dramatic descent down the mountain. This railroad has been recognized as one of the greatest engineering achievements of the 20th century.
Leaving the train behind your trip continues on to the most important pre-Columbian archeological site in Ecuador, the Inca Ruins of Ingapirca. See the Inca empire’s only remaining sun temple, standing on a hill at an elevation of 3,200 meters. Enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding area.
